Charleston's own GM of The Ordinary Brooks Reitz was just named one of 15 Eater Young Guns for the 2013 class. The title goes to the most promising up-and-comers in the industry, and Reitz is joined by a talented group of chefs, managers, a sake sommelier and more from across the country.
In May, McCrady's/Husk chef Sean Brock compared Reitz to restaurateur Danny Meyers saying, "You know when you meet someone and you just smile because you're like 'Holy shit you're going to do some things in your life.'"
Reitz and the rest of the 2013 Young Guns will be toasted at a gala in Los Angeles on Monday June 24. So cheers to Brooks for his work at The Ordinary. As Brock put it, "He's going to be very, very, very dangerous when he gets 10 years under his belt."
Also, congrats to Charleston's Young Guns semi-finalist Cappie Peete, the beverage director at downtown's McCrady's, for making into the top 50.
