Fans of West Ashley’s The Med Eatery and Bar should visit soon, because the space will shut down on January 29. The address in South Windermere Center will transform into barbecue concept The Wild Hare Smokehouse in February. Headed by Folly Roads Food chef Joseph Jacobson (Cafe Gibbes and Lowcountry Eats Catering),
Jacobson has wanted to open a barbecue location for some time now. The menu will focus on slow cooked foods and smokehouse fare like pulled pork sandwiches, hand-sliced pastrami reubens, pulled chicken, pork ribs, housemade sausage, smoked turkey breast, brisket, and even more meats. The non-meaty offerings also include sea options like local oysters, peel and eat shrimp, and blue crab toast, or Bibb lettuce salads and South Carolina collards. There will be a log-burning cooker on site.
The team from Wild Hare promises more information closer to the opening of the barbecue restaurant. Keep an eye here for more.
