The permanent location for food truck Avila unlocks the doors today at 11:30 a.m. Serving traditional Venezuelan cuisine, the restaurant will be a unique addition to the Calhoun Street landscape. Dishes like carne al coco, arepas with various fillings, tostones, and more fill the menu.
Co-owner Adam Goodwin started the concept earlier this year as a way to showcase his partner Melanie Blohm's Venezuelan heritage and recipes. Goodwin recruited friend and chef Alex Clark to work in the mobile kitchen to bring Blohm's recipes to the masses. Now the group brings the concept to a brick and mortar location at 141 Calhoun St.
The restaurant opens Monday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m., and Friday through Saturday, 11:30 a.m. - 3:00 a.m.
